Moving to Europe with pets: rules and tips
Microchip, vaccination and paperwork requirements for cats and dogs entering the EU.

Furniture is our job — but your pets’ journey is part of the move too. EU entry rules are clear and need lead time.
The EU’s 3 core requirements
- ISO-compliant microchip
- Valid rabies vaccination (given AFTER the chip)
- EU-compliant veterinary health certificate
Critical timing
Most EU countries require a 21-day wait after the rabies shot. Entries from Türkiye additionally need a rabies antibody (titre) test — with a 3-month wait after the test. Start planning 4+ months ahead.
On travel day
- Pets cannot travel in the furniture truck — they travel with you
- A familiar blanket and toy reduce stress
- Ask your vet about calming options for long trips
