Moving to the Netherlands: BSN, registration and your goods
First steps when settling in: municipal registration, BSN number, and your belongings’ journey.

The Netherlands is our second most common destination after Germany. With its orderly bureaucracy, the process is quick if you follow the right order.
Your first 2 weeks
- Register at the municipality (BRP) — book the appointment ahead
- BSN number — issued with registration; needed for bank, work, healthcare
- Health insurance — mandatory within 4 months
Your belongings’ journey
Istanbul–Amsterdam averages 6–9 days. Used household goods usually enter the EU duty-free when relocating; we handle the declaration. Door-to-door delivery to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht.
Practical tips
- Clarify furnished vs unfurnished rentals early — it sets your volume
- Narrow canal-house stairs may need a furniture lift (verhuislift); we plan it at the survey
