Measuring a lift cabin and door separately
The presence of a lift does not mean every item can travel in it. Cabin dimensions and the door opening need separate assessment.

Before you start
Ask building management about permitted moving times and conditions. Record the capacity label instead of estimating permitted loading yourself.
Practical steps
- Measure internal width, depth and height.
- Record the door opening and corridor leading to the lift separately.
- Send dimensions to the team beforehand for comparison with large packaged items.
Checks on arrival
Reconfirm lift availability for delivery. Have an agreed stair or equipment plan for belongings that will not fit inside.
What to include in your quote request
Prepare both addresses, access measurements and photographs for your enquiry. Identify uncertain access conditions explicitly. Confirm equipment, building coordination and delivery responsibilities in the written scope so the plan can be followed in practice.
