Assessing a guitar case for an international move
An existing guitar case is not automatically suitable for every condition on a long journey. Assess the instrument, accessories and need for additional protection together.

Before you start
Photograph its condition. Follow the maker's or technician's advice about strings, humidity and transport preparation instead of applying one generic method to every guitar.
Practical steps
- Check movement and support points inside the case.
- Store straps, picks and small accessories separately from surfaces they might scratch.
- Share the case's outer dimensions and any additional packing requirement with the moving team.
Checks on arrival
Inspect the case and instrument on delivery. Seek suitable technical advice about environmental changes or adjustments before playing if needed.
What to include in your quote request
Add the quantity, approximate dimensions and preparation status to your inventory. Include the floor, lift and vehicle access at both addresses. Photos help with the initial assessment. Confirm responsibility for packing, dismantling and reassembly in the written quote.
