What Does Door-to-Door Moving Mean? A Complete Guide

Clarify which doors and services a door-to-door quote covers. Compare packing, floor delivery, assembly and exclusions in one brief.

Define both handover points

“Door to door” does not automatically include every floor or placing goods in every room. Specify addresses, floors and lifts. Check front-door delivery, carrying inside, unpacking and assembly separately. Add verbally discussed details to the written quote.

Assign responsibilities

Assign packing, dismantling and receipt. Name whoever handles building access, parking and lift booking. Ask when inventory changes must be reported. An unprepared wardrobe or additional boxes can affect loading arrangements.

Example scope check

Example: a quote includes transport and floor delivery, but you expect wardrobe assembly. An explicit assembly line is needed to settle that expectation. Waiting, packaging disposal and a second visit also need checking. Obtain written answers before loading day.

Written-quote preparation checklist

  • Collection and delivery cities, postcodes, floors and lifts.
  • Packed inventory with unknown measurements and sensitive items flagged.
  • Earliest collection and your available receiving window.
  • Included and excluded packing, assembly, storage and other requirements.
