Keeping chest-of-drawers components in order

Similar drawers do not always fit equally well in every position. Marking their locations while emptying the chest saves time at your new home.

Keeping chest-of-drawers components in order

Before you start

Remove loose contents. Check whether the runners allow the drawers to be removed, and do not force them past their stops.

Practical steps

  • Number drawers from top to bottom and add the furniture identification code.
  • Keep detached handles and screws with the corresponding drawer label.
  • Agree with the moving team whether the body and drawers will travel separately.

Checks on arrival

Replace drawers in their numbered positions. If runners catch or the unit may tip, have its installation and restraints checked before filling it.

What to include in your quote request

Add the quantity, approximate dimensions and preparation status to your inventory. Include the floor, lift and vehicle access at both addresses. Photos help with the initial assessment. Confirm responsibility for packing, dismantling and reassembly in the written quote.
