Preparing an ottoman storage bed for moving
An ottoman bed requires attention to its lifting lid and mechanism as well as its outside dimensions. Use the instructions for the particular model instead of improvising dismantling.
Before you start
Empty the storage compartment completely. Check the manufacturer's instructions for supporting the lid and the transport position. Do not release tensioned parts yourself.
Practical steps
- Show the surveyor whether the base and headboard can travel separately.
- Plan protection for upholstery, feet and vulnerable corners.
- Leave work on the mechanism to someone with suitable knowledge and equipment; do not improvise a lid restraint.
Checks on arrival
Once the bed is positioned, have the installer check the moving section. Resolve rubbing or misalignment before putting the bed back into use.
