Organising family photographs and frames for moving

Similar frames can become difficult to assign to rooms after a move. Combine physical protection with digital copies of irreplaceable family photographs.

Organising family photographs and frames for moving

Before you start

List frames by room and size. Make digital copies where practical, but do not open a frame if removal could damage its contents.

Practical steps

  • Prevent glass faces from touching one another.
  • Protect projecting stands and hanging fittings on the back.
  • Group frames by suitable sizes instead of squeezing very different shapes into one box.

Checks on arrival

Read the room label before unpacking. If glass is damaged, document its condition and seek suitable assistance before trying to remove the photograph.

What to include in your quote request

Add the quantity, approximate dimensions and preparation status to your inventory. Include the floor, lift and vehicle access at both addresses. Photos help with the initial assessment. Confirm responsibility for packing, dismantling and reassembly in the written quote.
