Packing a floor lamp and shade separately

A long lamp body and a wide shade may not suit the same box. Planning them separately helps avoid pressure damage and trapped cables.

Packing a floor lamp and shade separately

Before you start

Unplug the lamp and check the instructions for removable parts. Do not secure the shade by taping directly onto its fabric or finish.

Practical steps

  • Protect the shade in a separate box where it will not be compressed.
  • Arrange the cable without trapping it and keep the plug away from delicate surfaces.
  • Show the packing team the heavy base and slender body separately.

Checks on arrival

Check stability and cable condition after positioning the lamp. Have loose connections or damage assessed before switching it on.

What to include in your quote request

Add the quantity, approximate dimensions and preparation status to your inventory. Include the floor, lift and vehicle access at both addresses. Photos help with the initial assessment. Confirm responsibility for packing, dismantling and reassembly in the written quote.
