Preparing a desk with cable management for moving

Cable trays and power strips underneath a desk are easy to overlook. Before dismantling the furniture, check which cables are attached to it.

Preparing a desk with cable management for moving

Before you start

Shut down and disconnect equipment safely. Photograph the underside of the desk. Do not pull cables free; fixed electrical connections require qualified assistance.

Practical steps

  • Separate cable trays, power adapters and fixing screws into labelled groups.
  • Mark the orientation of desk legs without applying tape directly to delicate finishes.
  • Allow enough access to sockets and cables when choosing the desk's new position.

Checks on arrival

Check the desk's stability after assembly. Before reconnecting devices, look for trapped cables and damaged connections inside the cable tray.

What to include in your quote request

Add the quantity, approximate dimensions and preparation status to your inventory. Include the floor, lift and vehicle access at both addresses. Photos help with the initial assessment. Confirm responsibility for packing, dismantling and reassembly in the written quote.
